To be Christ in Church and Community
At the start of the Church's New Year let us focus on the initiatives and needs of St Giles during this Advent season of prayer and preparation.
Mission: Messy Church in St Giles Church Hall on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
We are striving to reach new families through a new concept of being church through Welcome, making things together, worship and a shared meal all based on a Bible theme.
Mission: St Giles Church Hall
We are actively considering extensions and alterations to the church hall to provide enhanced facilities for the wider community. Such a development demonstrates St Giles commitment and involvement in the community. A steering group has been set up and sketch plans have been produced. Such a project will need tremendous support both in prayer and involvement of the whole church family if this project is to succeed. Let us actively pray to discern God's will to see whether this project will be taken to the next stage and for committed, voluntary help (e.g. secretary, grant application writers) to work for this project.
Maintenance: St Giles Church
In the New Year we will be embarking on two very important pieces of work, one is to have a permanent repair to the roof truss and the other is to do conservation and restoration work on the stonework in church. Such work will cost approximately £50,000.
We are currently having the Bell Tower cleaned costing £ 1,850, necessary electricity work costing £1,800 and we are awaiting an estimate for work on the bells. Our funds are low.
Please hold each prayer focus in your daily prayers as we seek to discern God's will and blessing to strengthen these initiatives and our mission in Killamarsh.
