| | Messy Church. Who said Church should be boring? St Giles Church is to be recognised as a church for families who want to meet Jesus, belong to their local church and bring up their children as Christians but can't cope with traditional Sunday morning church services. Who said Church had to be boring? It's a once-a-month time of creativity, cooking, worship and eating together. We will Launch Messy Church 24th September, and every 4th Wednesday of the Month. Be there, at St Giles Church Hall. 3:30 – 6pm. |
| | Back to Church Sunday. We pray that people who have attended church before but no longer do so, will be personally invited to attend St Giles or St Matthew’s. Everyone is welcome, we hope a personal invite will encourage you to come back to Church and join us on 28th September 2008. We shall celebrate with a Joint Songs of Praise with the Killamarsh Silver Band at 7:30. |
| | Harvest Cebrations. Home Baking, Garden Produce and Crafts. Entertainment and a “Pie & Peas” supper are planned for Saturday 4th October. A Home Produce evening with Judging event. Ending with a fun auction of the produce to help raise funds.. Bring along your prize produce and handicrafts for display 3pn - 4pm. | | Harvest Festival Services. St Giles will hold its annual Harvest Festival on Sunday 5th October at the 10am Service. Children from the Local Primary Schools are invited to create a masterpiece to help celebrate this year’s harvest. Details yet to be confirmed. |

| | Holy Land. Revd. Helen and Revd. Michael are leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in November 2009. It is hoped that as many people as possible, from our parishes, will be able to join them on this once in a life time opportunity. For more information see either Revd. Helen or Revd. Mick. |
| | Flower Arranging Workshops. Christine Beach will be holding Flower arranging workshops in the Church at 6pm one evening every month prior to the first Sunday Service. The next is September 4th - 6pm. Flowers have been donated by Sainsburys at Cristal peaks. |
| | Church Outing. The trip to BEAMISH is on the 6th September, please hurry to book your tickets for this very popular event. |
| | Open Day. St Matthew's 13th September. The Church willbe open all day for quiet prayer and reflection. Reverend Michael Guest will be available during the day for those who require pastoral guidance. |
 | Bell Rope Appeal. The Bell ropes at St. Giles Church are wearing thin and it is imperative that we look to replacing them if we wish to continue hearing the bells rung at weddings and special services. £600 is needed for six new ropes. Please give generously. |
 | 3C's Cafe. The Cafe AROMA has moved to the Methodist Church on Sheffield Road and with the move comes a new name 3C’s Café representing our mission statement to be Christ in Church and Community. Our thanks go to our Methodist brothers and sisters in Christ for generously allowing us to use their premises. |
| | Ride & Stride. The Churches and Chapels preservation trust fund raiser is passing via St Matthew's Church on 13th September. Anyone wishing to join in the Stride & Ride or help with refreshments on the day, contact Rev Michael Guest. |
| | Church outing to Beamish is to take place on September the 6th. Price £23 including entry per adult and £12 per child under 16yrs. Please hurry and book your ticket as this trip is proving to be very popular. |

 | Love in a Box Launch for 2008 - 14th September. We have been supporting the Samaritans Purse, Operation Christmas Child. Also known a "Love in a Box". We asked you to fill a shoe box with gifts and love. Operation Christmas Child sends a message of hope to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. In 2007 we collected more than 140 shoe boxes full of love and gifts. Thankyou to you all. An acknowledgement from the Samaritans Purse organisation is on show at the back of the church. |
